As firefighters, we were exposed to many different toxins during our careers, which leaves us having a higher risk of cancer – 9% higher than the general population. With this being the first-ever Fire Fighter Cancer Awareness Month what better time than now to become reacquainted with what cancers are covered under presumptive legislation in Ontario and to know where to turn for assistance if needed?
We never want anyone to be given this kind of news but please keep in mind that once a diagnosis has been made you should reach out to the 3888 WSIB Committee for assistance. I have provided links on the homepage (about halfway down) for more information.
