Update2 – LODD Norman Sinclair Funeral Notice

Union Notice #22-120: UPDATE LODD ceremony for Former Scarborough VP and TFS Captain Norm Sinclair
UPDATE

This will be a line-of-duty death ceremony, members are asked to wear full dress uniform, white gloves, and a cap with a shrouded badge.

Following the ceremony, the family is having a reception for family, friends, and firefighters at;

Form Up and Rolling Salute

We will be forming up and honouring Captain Sinclair with a rolling salute. Members will be asked to form up and come to attention when the command is given. The rolling salute starts with raising the right hand saluting the Canadian flag, holding the salute until the caisson passes, and then down immediately at the back of the caisson, bowing your head as the family passes. Your hand should come down after the member beside you and try to coordinate with the member across you. Continue to stand at attention until you’re dismissed.

Norman Sinclair– 01 March 1950– 15 October 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norm Sinclair. Norm passed away Saturday, October 15th. from complications and infection from recent cancer surgery. He was 72 years old. Norm’s career began with the Scarborough Fire Department (#449) on the 30th of September 1977, and he officially retired on the 31st of Jan 2008, as a Captain with Toronto Fire Services, after amalgamation. He will be sorely missed!

Visitation: Friday, October 28th, 2022 12 Noon to 2 pm

SINCLAIR, Norman “Norm”

Retired Toronto Fire Captain, passed away peacefully with family by his side, from an occupational illness, at Toronto General Hospital on Saturday, October 15th, 2022, at the age of 72 years. Predeceased by his beloved wife Elizabeth “Liz”. Loving father of Kerri (Scott) and Kim (Punk). Cherished grandpa of Hunter and Gracie. Dear brother of Dianne Godwin (Gord). Will be missed by his nieces, nephews, and friends. Thank you to Dr. Shannon Trainor at Lakeridge Health – Oshawa for her above-and-beyond care and compassion.

Norm had a definite zest for life, a contagious smile, and an amazing sense of humour. He had many passions including golf, travel, and most of all spending time with his family. Norm was a strong believer in charity work and was actively involved within his community both at home and work. He will be greatly missed by all of us who were lucky enough to have known him.

Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Friday, October 28th, from noon until 2:00 p.m. Funeral Service in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m.

Union Notice #22-120: LODD Ceremony for Captain Norman Sinclair

Local 3888 Members;

We have been notified of the passing of retired Captain Norman Sinclair at the age of 72, from an occupational disease on October 15, 2022, at Toronto General Hospital.

Captain Norman Sinclair started with the former Scarborough fire on September 30, 1974, and was very active as a union member of Local 626, and was elected as Vice President in the ’80s. Norman was promoted to Captain on January 13, 1997, and he retired after 33 years of service on
January 31, 2008.

Norman is resting at Oshawa Funeral Home, and we will be meeting with the family shortly to discuss arrangements for his LODD ceremony.
