It is with heavy heart that we share that Robert Archibald passed away at his home on March 4th, 2024. If you are reading this, it is because you knew Bob, and if you knew him, it means you surely loved him. It was impossible not to, and it is hard to imagine a world without him. He occupied so much space in our hearts. He contributed so much – in his work as a firefighter, in the myriad of ways he gave back to his community, and in the love and laughter he gave to his family. As his daughter-in-law, I will miss his warmth, our rousing political conversations, and the sneaky grin that he flashed right after one of his cheeky jokes. I will miss his booming voice, his infectious laughter, his quick wit, and his storytelling. I will miss calling him dad, and I am so grateful for the ease with which he welcomed me into the family and for the love he gave. His wonderful sons, David and Michael, are understandably grieving and asked me to thank all of you for being patient with them as they decide on the best way to honour their father’s life. Please feel free to share with them your favourite memories of Bob, or simply offer condolences for this monumental loss.
