Ed Kennedy Funeral Notice

October 7, 2020
TPFFA President and Active Member, Captain Ed Kennedy Funeral Information

The Ceremony for Active Member Captain Ed Kennedy will be held tomorrow, Thursday, October 8th, 2020.

Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Home
625 Birchmount Rd, Scarborough, ON M1K 1R1
Celebration of life ceremony will start at 4 pm

Visitation and Service will be limited to family and invited guests.

Covid 19 restrictions will limit us to 100 people total on the cemetery grounds; this includes Family, Pipes and Drums, leaving us with 50 spots available.

Due to the stringent restriction on our numbers, we must limit those who can enter. To be considered for one of these limited spots, please send an email to James Reed at reed@torontofirefighters.org. Please provide some explanation for your need to attend. Ed’s family will vet the list of names asking for entry. Due to time restrictions, only those accepted will receive a confirmation email, Thursday morning.

Those who are not accepted and any other members may attend a final salute for Brother Captain Ed Kennedy. This salute will not be on the cemetery grounds but on the roadway that surrounds the cemetery. We ask members to respect social distancing protocols that have been laid out by the province.

Those attending should be in full dress uniform, white gloves and a black mask. Cap badges are not to be shrouded.

The final salute procession will begin at the cemetery main gates on Birchmount, heading East on Foxbridge Dr, South on Kennedy Road, and West on St. Clair Ave E, and North up Birchmount back to the gates.

We ask members to show up for 4 pm so that Committee Members and Executive Officers can direct your placement. The final salute form up will begin on Birchmount Rd, heading north on the east side of the street, then east on Foxbridge Dr formed up on the south side of the road only. If needed, we will ask members to form up on the west side of Kennedy and the north side of St. Claire Avenue East.

Members should be an arms-length apart plus 1 ft. After the salute, we ask members to disperse and leave as soon as possible.

We are broadcasting live on the TFS YouTube Channel, barring technical difficulties. At the very least it will be taped for later broadcasting. We will list the link once it becomes available.

See attachments for the order of service and map for the procession route.
