Clifford Earl Ferguson – 1927 ~ 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Retired District Chief Cliff Ferguson (Seniority #116) on August 29, 2023, due to natural causes, just two months shy of his 96th birthday.
Cliff was predeceased by his wife Ruth and his parents George and Mary Ferguson. Loving father to Bob and his wife Dawn, Karen Schad, and Cathy and her husband Rick (Chuck) West. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Julie (Sean) and Jessie (Joel), Michael, Jeffrey, Cheryl (Chris) and Laura (Ryan) and by great-grandchildren (Julie) Lukas, Liam, (Jessie) Jacob, Jordan, (Cheryl) Taylor, and (Laura) Benjamin and Evelynn.
Cliff was a World War II veteran and had many jobs before starting with the Township of Scarborough Fire Department in March 1957. Among other things, he delivered milk by horse and wagon, he was a Landscaper, but most of all he loved being a firefighter and put in thirty years of service before retiring in October 1987 at the rank of District Chief. In retirement Cliff and Ruth loved to golf and spent time every year wintering in Florida. New Smyrna Beach was their go-to place where Cliff loved his long morning walks on the beach and four o’clock Happy Hours. He was a long-standing member of Highland Creek Legion #258 and was active in their Colour Guard.
A Memorial will be held at the PINE HILLS CEMETERY AND FUNERAL CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Road, Scarborough, on September 16, 2023.
Visitation from 12noon – 1pm,
Service 1 pm – 2 pm, followed by a reception.
