Visitation and Ceremony – Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home 8088 Yonge St Thornhill, ON

Visitation – Thursday. August 26, 2021, 6 pm to 8 pm.
Ceremony – Friday, August 27, 2021, 10:30 am

C&B committee members will be on the ground with white gloves and black masks for members that need them. TFS personnel attending the funeral are to wear full dress uniform (white shirt and gloves), cap with shrouded badge. COVID-19 precautions will be strictly adhered to, including social distancing and the wearing of masks at all times during this ceremony.

Due to the current pandemic restrictions, we are limited to the number of attendees permitted inside the funeral home. Attending members may have to remain outside the venue in an overflow area where the service will be broadcast. Please be prepared for all weather conditions.

Captain Martin Costoff -April 17, 1958 – August 17, 2021

It is with great sadness we are notifying our members of the passing of active member Captain Martin Costoff, Badge # 1683, in his 63rd year, known as “Marty”. Captain Costoff’s ceremony will be a Line of Duty Death ceremony as he passed from brain cancer, a recognized occupational disease.

Marty started with the North York Fire department on Sept 26, 1988. Records indicate he was placed at P125 A-platoon, moved to P111 A on April 21, 2014, promoted to A133 as Captain on March 19, 2018, then transferred to P125 A on July 30, 2018.

Our condolences to Captain Martin Costoff’s family, friends, and co-workers. Captain Martin Costoff will be missed. Rest in peace Cap!

The family will be having a private funeral with invited guests only and will be having a memorial service in a few weeks. Please respect the family’s wishes.
