Bruce Robert Gilbert
September 12, 1955 – February 16, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bruce Gilbert #756 on Thursday, February 16th. 2023. Bruce started with Scarborough Fire on November 5th, 1990 and retired from Toronto Fire on January 29th, 2018.
He fought a long and difficult cancer illness and passed away at the age of 67 with his family by his side.
Bruce was my Rookie on Snorkel 9 when he started with the SFD. He was bigger than life and always had a good story to tell.
He will be missed by many of his friends in the fire service.
A later date will be set for a celebration of life.
Our sincerest condolences go out to his wife, Denise, their family, and friends from the Scarborough Fire Fighters Retirees.

Bruce Robert Gilbert

After a long and tenacious battle with cancer, Bruce passed peacefully at home with his family by his side.
Bruce, a loving husband, best friend, and road captain to Denise, dad, and fixer of all things to Jordan (Laura) and Leah (Scott), and special grandpa to Mason. Bruce will be remembered for his 28-year career as a firefighter, his love to ride, and for always having a story to share with anyone willing to listen. Bruce’s big personality, his love for life, and his commitment to his family and friends will be missed beyond words.
