From his family…

Allan George Snelling, born on July 10, 1927, the only son of Doris and George Snelling of Rhodes Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, passed away peacefully on his 94th birthday in his sleep in the afternoon of July 10, 2021. Survived by Gladys Rose Snelling, his beloved and devoted wife of 71 years who he met and fell in love at first sight at Christmas while working at the Toronto Post Office 5-years before they married on July 28, 1950. Formerly resident on Oakridge Drive in Scarborough, Ontario, Allan was the much-loved father and sage advisor to his children, Elizabeth, Anna, Julie, and Scott, and their spouses. After moving to Farrow Crescent in Ajax, Ontario, Allan became the adored and loving grandfather to seven granddaughters and one great-granddaughter. “Fireman Al” trained drivers as a member, and later as Captain, with the Scarborough Fire Department from age 29 to retirement. He was the public speaker and photographer to the Department as the Special Relations Officer. A talented and avid driver, mechanic to his ancient blue Buick, cook, library-goer, long-time photographer, winemaker, gardener, and fine woodworker, 6 a.m. Ajax Community Centre gym-‘work outer’ and enthused singer of hymns in church until COVID closure, he lived a wonderful and happy life to the fullest and will be greatly missed.

Due to Covid restrictions, a memorial service may be held at a later date.

“Those we love don’t go away, They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved still missed and very dear”.
