Hi John,

My dad, Ross McTavish, passed away late in the afternoon on Saturday, October 13.  I think you’d already heard that he had moved to Scarborough Retirement Residence and had been taking treatment for cancer. He stopped the treatment in mid-September because it was no longer effective.  We knew that he would eventually decline but at this point he seemed tired, but still quite well.  My brother spoke to him at 4 pm on Saturday, confirming dinner plans for the extended family for Sunday, and he seemed fine.  When my dad didn’t go down to dinner, the staff checked on him, and he had passed. Quickly and peacefully.

Visitation will be at McDougall and Brown in Kingston Road in Scarborough on Tuesday, October 16 from 2 -4 and from 6-8:30.

March 17, 1915 - October 16, 2017

Kind, active, loving, giving, creative and grateful are just some of the attributes that made up Louise's personality throughout her 102+ years.

Louise was the eldest of 7.

As a young girl, Louise was active in many sports and loved the outdoors. This interest continued her whole life both in her participation in sports and in cheering on her favorite sport team, the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Louise attended Duke of Connaught P. S. and Eastern High School of Commerce.

She worked at Toronto Optical until she married.

Louise met her future husband Don, the love of her life, at Christian Endeavour. They married in April 1939 and were a team for 59+ years.

Together Louise and Don travelled the world.

Louise and Don (1998) had 2 children Elaine & Glen (Sandy) and 2 grandchildren, Caralyn (2001) & Candace (Jordan), 2 great-children, Cole Ross & Eve Andrea.

Louise was an accomplished seamstress, knitter and a needle work artist.

Louise felt herself a lucky lady: to have been married to Don, lucky to have a loving family and lucky to have had good health.
