SCARBOROUGH PROFESSIONAL FIREFIGHTERS RETIREMENT CLUB

 15th ANNIVERSARY EDITION NEWSLETTER

March 8,2007

Back in December 1992, after an informal luncheon at Kally's,a change of location was discussed, seeking more privacy.  Highland Creek Legion was suggested(I believe by Bill Willis)and a deal was made with their Excutive.February 1992
launched the first official luncheon of the newly formed Scarborough Professional Firefighters Retirement Club.Except  for a few  exceptions we have been meeting the 2nd Thursday each month ever since.

Since that beginning the Club has renovated Hall #1 & the Garage into the present Musuem. Al Cousins,  Ron Wood &
Jim Silverthorne have co-ordinated visits from School Groups, Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, Car Clubs,Historical Groups, Politicians & many more.

The Antique Trucks attend Beaches Easter Parade, 42-Division Police Picnic, Heritage Day Highland Creek        Parade and Canada Day Parades for 258 Legion & Scarborough.

Along the way, we aided in the Chief's Convention and at the request of Scarborough Council,we formed an Elite Colour Guard  for the Bi-Centennial Celebrations.  We were in great demand for many occasions after the celebrations ended, including  performances at the Yacht Club, dedications for Fire Halls, Medal Ceremonies, Funerals and the services for the
Fallen Firefighters Memorial at T.F.S. & Queen's Park,(Note to members - Chief Bill Stewart extends a standing invitation to any T.F.S. functions e.g.Memorials, Funerals, Dedications etc.  You must wear Blues & Greys or your uniform if it still fits)

The club has an Annual Fun Golf & BBQ each September at Ray Cook's Farm & Golf Course! North of Sunderland. Try to  attend - its a fun day & Ray, Wendy & Family put a lot of hard work into it and we greatly appreciate it.

Over the years, we have lost quite a few of our originals. In this regard, if any of you know of any new or future retirees who
would be interested in joining the club we would surely like to hear from them. Further, if you have E-Mail would you notify  the SFD Retirees

Reminder- Ladies Days are May 10th & October 12th

Last Call:  Vic Richardson, Dan Donnelly,Carson Olmstead, Gabe Beauchesne, Earl Strong, Orly Wray, John Mangotic, Alf Marriott, Tom Knox
